About Gigi’s Place

Gigi’s Place is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, loving, temporary care for the pets of individuals who are hospitalized. Our mission is to ensure that no pet is left behind when their person needs medical care or healing time. We serve Central Virginia through a compassionate network of volunteer caregivers, foster homes, and supportive community programs.

Audrey Bonafe

Our Mission

Audrey Bonafe noticed that many of her Powhatan Paws Pet Sitting clients living alone needed help caring for their pets during hospital stays or recovery periods but they didn’t have family that could care for their pet and they couldn't afford long-term boarding. To meet this recurring need, she began offering free pet boarding in such situations, leading to the creation of Gigi’s Place, a nonprofit program.


Our nonprofit organization caters to people who are hospitalized or having outpatient surgery and may need someone to care for their pets temporarily while they are recovering, or in other situations re-homing the pets if needed.
